TALENT SUMMARY

These are roles of the Generic Risk Modeling Team reporting into the Chief Risk Officer (CRO). Your team will work closely with actuaries, underwriters, plus a variety of analysts, e.g. financial, security, operations, market, etc. Depending on the seniority of the position, you will either lead the generic risk modeling team or serve as one of its members. The company's Generic Risk Model (GRM) is the foundational model of the company's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) strategy.

 

You will lead and/or actively participate in the entire GRM lifecycle. The GRM can be readily mapped to any aspect-oriented risk model (ARM). ARM types include strategic, legal, compliance, reputational, operational, program, catastrophe, and systemic, esp. security, financial, and political.

On the business side, you will work closely with actuaries, underwriters, plus a variety of analysts, e.g. financial, security, operations, compliance, market, etc. to abstract the company's various ARMs into a living GRM. On the technical side , you will collaborate with business architecture, business analysis, Quality Assurance, as well as the Data & Analytics and Technology teams to validate the resultant GRM and ensure the GRM can be readily incorporated into the business operating model.

You should be able to present your discoveries and insights to the GRM team. You should be able to present the GRM's team's insights to the CRO as well as other concerned business and technical stakeholders when called upon to do so. You should be able to dive comfortably into the technical weeds and navigate your arguments smoothly through them when needed, without entangling either yourself or your audience in them.

 

You should be able to articulate the pros and cons of your arguments in terms the business both understands and cares about. You should also be able to explain the rationale behind your work in clear, concise business terms backed by sound mathematical reasoning.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • lead and/or contribute to the entire GRM life cycle from ideation to deployment

  • research products and approaches towards developing new and/or improved GRM models

  • present and publish findings, insights, and proposed actions to both technical and executive audiences

  • lead and/or contribute to establishing, evangelizing, and continuously improving a GRM practice within the company

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • 2 - 10 years academic and/or commercial risk modeling, mathematical modeling, and/or risk management experience

  • 2 - 10 years academic and/or commercial domain modeling and/or knowledge engineering experience

  • 2 - 10 years proven ability working and producing results in a diverse, virtual team setting

  • excellent command of the English language, both written and oral

  • proven ability to present findings and rationale to both technical and executive audiences

  • excellent business social skills

  • recent degree and credentials in mathematical modeling, risk modeling,  or similar discipline

WHAT GIVE YOU AN EDGE

  • experience across the mathematical modeling spectrum, ie. analytical, numerical, etc.

  • insurance/reinsurance domain knowledge, preferably P&C and/or L&H

  • perennial student of risk modeling, methodologies, and support tools

  • perennial student of mathematical modeling, methodologies, and support tools

  • perennial student of knowledge engineering, methodologies, and support tools

  • recent degree and/or credentials in risk management or similar discipline

  • first mover/fast follower of the latest advances in risk modeling approaches and technology
